Campaign Victories in Spite of Election Loss
|
What a strange morning it was today, waking up with no precinct walks scheduled or phone calls to make. I walked out to the kitchen to view the final results from the Secretary of State website, where it was confirmed that I would not be serving my country in Congress these coming years. To say that I was disappointed would be an understatement; I truly wanted to represent my district. As I sat there reviewing this past year, I was overwhelmed with a sense of gratitude. Faces came to mind, followed by conversations and memories of laughter. It is clear how each one of you helped me on this journey. I have been so honored to make new friends, meet thousands of people in my district, and work alongside people from all backgrounds. My sadness was accompanied by happiness. I also know that there is nothing else we should have or could have done differently. I am so proud that our team of volunteers was able to set a new standard of how campaigns are run. They led by example and demonstrated how to stand firm on one’s beliefs while being gracious to others who might see things differently. We were able to bring a fresh perspective and renewed energy to the party. Many of you share in my frustration and disappointment, and while this is acceptable for a short period, we must dust ourselves off and get back to work. Our country needs people like you, people who take the time to get involved in a campaign, support friends, and work to have your views represented. Some have asked and still others are probably wondering, “Will you run again?” The question you should be asking is, “When will you run again?” Soon, my friends, very soon. |

I was extremely proud to be one of your supporters, from afar.
You are the bright light of the future! Our country needs people like YOU.
May God bless you and your family.
