Walking the Talk
By Don Silver
I was 10 years old when the Democratic convention was held in Los Angeles in 1960. It was the first time a national political convention was held in the city. I remember the excitement of attending the convention, collecting the candidates’ buttons and later following the presidential campaign and election in the newspaper and Newsweek.
Fast forward 50 years later to 2010 and this is the first year I’ve been actively involved in working for candidates in political campaigns. I’ve written political ads, given advice, helped with mailings, manned the campaign office, attended events and made phone calls.
But probably the most fascinating experience I’ve had is walking door-to-door with a candidate—in this case, Merlin Froyd. It is a very different experience meeting members of the community alongside a candidate, hearing their concerns and seeing how they relate so well to Merlin.
If you want a unique campaign experience and to do some good at the same time, walk the talk with Merlin.
If you would like to walk with Merlin or otherwise volunteer your time for the campaign, please submit the volunteer form, and you will be contacted regarding fantastic volunteer opportunities best suited for your skills and availability.

Merlin Froyd is a dream candidate. He has been walking the 28th district and knocking on over 18,000 doors. He has made the phone calls asking for money. Where has Howard Berman been. Having worked on a campaign where every vote counts, it is important for us all to support Merlin Froyd. If you cannot walk, you can talk. If you do not want to do either, then even in these hard times, send a small amount of money. Join the Merlin campaign and watch magic happen.
