Raised on a farm in the Midwest, Merlin Froyd intuitively understands the necessity of hard work, the value of a good neighbor, and the hopes of honest Americans working hard every day to live their dreams. At age 28, Mr. Froyd brings a youthful perspective to the Republican Party’s ticket – a perspective that gives him passion to win and optimism to believe that anyone, if he or she works hard enough, can make a difference in this great nation of ours.
The youngest of three, Mr. Froyd was raised within a loving family. Born to Joann and Marshall Froyd in Bemidji, Minnesota, he was blessed enough to be surrounded by loving parents, two older brothers, his father’s honeybees, his mother’s pet chickens, and fields of alfalfa.
After graduating from Bemidji High School, where he was a drum major in marching band, president of the Drama Club, manager of the performing arts group Vocalmotive, a member of Student Council, president of Deer Lake Flyers 4-H club, and speaker for the class of 2001, Mr. Froyd moved to Los Angeles. His leadership skills well-tested and proven, he arrived in the City of Angels determined to take his stab at the American dream: a career as an actor.
Since 2001 he has worked tirelessly to serve his community and to work on his “day job”, balancing the dream with reality as so many hard-working Americans do on a daily basis. When he was the head of the Internet Department at Sunrise Ford of North Hollywood, Mr. Froyd doubled sales, increased the department’s size, and made the department profitable, after proving himself as the youngest sales manager in the company’s history (achieving that goal at age 20).
During his time at Sunrise Ford, Mr. Froyd was recognized by other companies for his skills at growing his department during these down economic times. He has been asked by local news outlets to comment on the economy and the car industry in particular. And he has worked with Ford Motor Company on training videos for new product, placing fourth in the nation for his talent at Ford Vehicle Demonstration.
From an early age, Mr. Froyd’s “can-do” attitude has served him well. Fiscally conservative and socially moderate, Mr. Froyd decided to run for office in the 29th Congressional District of California because he believes that the country’s current leadership is headed in the wrong direction. He wants to restore balance to the debate by bringing common-sense solutions to Congress that won’t take more hard-earned money out of your paycheck. He wants to free up your resources so that you can make choices for your family instead of having the government make them for you.
